INTERVIEW With Bianca Owens

We've been working hard behind the scenes to bring you, our readers exciting new features. We hope you enjoy this interview with up and coming Fitness Model Bianca Owens.
So tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Bianca Owens. I am 24 years old. I graduated from James Madison University in Dec 2014. I obtained a bachelors degree in Sociology with a minor in criminal justice.

How long have you been modelling?
For about 6 months, I am fairly new to this =o)

So you’re very clearly a fitness model now is that how your modelling career started?
My modelling career started by me joining my bikini team. After joining the bikini team and competing, I then began taking part in photo shoots.

Do you partake in any sports?
No, I have never been athletic. In high school I did manage several sports.

What is your regular workout routine?
My workout routine is far from regular. It is very dependent on whether or not I am prepping for a competition or shoot. Broadly, I break my muscles up into groups and complete each week based on how sore I am to ensure proper time for healing.

Who do you take inspiration from? Can you name 3 female celebrities whose physiques you respect?
Alot of my inspiration and motivation came from within myself. I was unhappy with myself. So I began working out. To be honest, at first I hated it. Once I started seeing results was when it turned into a lifestyle.

·         3 female’s whose physiques I respect:
·        Katy Hearn
·         Heidi Somers
Michelle Lewin

Favourite bands and musicians what do you listen to while you exercise?
·         I don’t really have any favourite bands or musicians. What kind of music I listen to is dependent on my mood. While exercising I listen to a lot of rap and hip hop.

Does your tattoo have any special meaning? Are there any other tattoos you’re happy to mention?
·         I have 4 tattoos
·         A rose with a cancer ribbon on my wrist – rose is my grandmothers favourite flower and the cancer represents renal kidney cancer (father was diagnosed in 2010)
·         Stars on my hip
·         Star with a wing on my shoulder
“family forever” down my side (with green cancer ribbon as l ).

So as a fitness model do you consider yourself a sex symbol
·    Being in the modelling industry is difficult because many women don’t want to consider themselves as a “sex symbol” but society has created this “outlook” on females that are in the modelling industry. Society makes it difficult for women to be successful within the modelling industry without exposing themselves physically.

For instance, I have been asked to be booked for several shootings but when it got down to discussing criteria of the shoot, 9 times out of 10 the photographer requested nude shoots. I refuse to give myself that type of image and if you’re not willing to expose yourself it makes it harder to be successful in the industry.

Do you have any message for the readers of our blog?
·    Fitness related: You have to want it for yourself, no one else. If you have particular goals, stick to them, results will come!
Model related: Don’t steer away from your morals and values as an individual.

INTERVIEW With FitGirl.Sara

Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Sara, I am 20 years old, I study business administration and live in Germany.

Have you always been dedicated to fitness or was it a more recent change?

I always loved being active, doing sports, I started dancing when I was three years old and during my childhood I tried out almost every kind of sports you can imagine. But in the end I always knew that there is nothing that gets me more than dancing. So to be honest fitness was never really important to me, but one year ago I discovered my passion for fitness. Of course I went to the gym before, but without any special goals and doing the typical "girls stuff" I was pretty bored.

Then last year, when I came back from my travels in Australia, where I gained lots of weight, I really wanted it chance something, I had a goal and some pounds too much which gave me a good basis to build muscle pretty fast. Since I do weightlifting and see the success the gym isn't even a little bit boring anymore, it has become my second home.

Can you tell us about your workout routine?

I workout about six times a week, I tried to rest on Sundays but sometimes it's kinda hard and I really have to remind myself that my body needs time to recover. I train the different groups of muscles on separate days.

Who do you take inspiration from? Can you name three celebrities whose physiques you respect?

Of course there are lots of famous women which look great and are really inspirational, but to be honest, I don't really take my motivation and inspiration from famous people, I love following the changes and progresses of normal people, just like me, I am always happy if I find someone I am not already following who shares his or hers successes and struggles and I love to observe how people become happy and confident and fit.

Do you do any sports?

I love lifting and working out, but in the first place I am a dancer, I dance in a great team and we are booked about 50 times a year as an act on big events, so it's pretty time-consuming, but I absolutely love it.

Do you feel that there is beginning to be a change in the media’s image of the female body and is that change for the better?

I am assured that there's a change in the medias image of the female body, there is a big trend towards fitness and fit women are also becoming more and more attractive. In my opinion it's a good kind of change because living healthy and fit is so much better as a role model that being as thin and skinny as possible.

What do you think of as your biggest accomplishment in fitness?

I was always struggling with my knees, sometimes they hurt so bad that I couldn't even move and I was really afraid that I could never train as hard again as I did before. But I never gave up, and though the doctors still are skeptical, I am confident, I am back in training and I won't give up!

What music do you like?

I like almost every kind of music. Most of the time I listen to the radio. But to motivate myself during my workout, I love listening to Linkin Park or Eminem.

Tell us about your online presence.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to write a blog, but you can follow me on Instagram, fitgirl.sara to follow my fitness journey, to see my changes and how I motivate myself.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell the fans

The most important thing is to never give up and to always believe in yourself, no matter where you are now, it's your turn to get where you want to be and no matter how long it takes if you focus your goals you'll be able to reach anything you're dreaming of.

INTERVIEW: Linda Vu

Hi, I’m Linda Vu.  I’m an Artist, Photographer, Graphic Designer, Fitness Trainer/Consultant/Model.  I’m also a producing partner at Don Barnhart Entertainment.
I just released my motivational fitness CD ENERGY HOUR and just finished shooting my abs work out DVD POWER ABS.  The POWER ABS is a “No Excuse” program designed to maximize your abs work out whether you’re on the road, at the gym or in the privacy of your own home.  I’m also working on my upcoming fitness book GET THE BODY YOU WANT.
You can check out my indie feature film CHINADOLLS which I starred in.  I was featured in the Hawaiian Style swimsuit calendar and recently modelled for Dilliard’s and Ssuzi Swimwear. What I’m most proud of was spending last summer on tour visiting the troops overseas sharing my thoughts about health, fitness and motivation.
I’m very passionate about being healthy, fit and committed to helping people reach their personal fitness goals.

SO WHEN DID YOU START WORKING OUT SERIOUSLY?

Fitness has always been a way of life for me.  When I first moved to America, I didn’t speak the language and was the smallest kid in school.   I was always last picked for everything.  Even though I didn’t speak the language, I knew it was a terrible feeling to be left out.  I swore I would never be last picked in anything again.

HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN A FITNESS FANATIC OR WAS THERE SOMETHING THAT MADE A CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE?

As I mentioned earlier, I was always the smallest of all my peers and it made me felt like I had to work harder to become the best.  And that consists of being in the best shape that I can be. There are many obstacles with my petite frame but I never let it stop me, which makes me the overachiever that I am.  If you’re looking at your obstacles, you’re not looking at your goals.

WHO DO YOU TAKE INSPIRATION FROM? CAN YOU NAME 3 FEMALE CELEBRITIES WHOSE PHYSIQUES YOU RESPECT?

I get my inspiration from many trainers and peers because I know what it takes to become great and I’m inspired by their dedication and commitment.  The female celebrities that I respect most for their natural physique is Keira Knightley, Angelina Jolie and Jillian Michaels.

DO YOU DO ANY SPORTS? COULD YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THAT?

I love and play every sport but swimming and Wing Chun Kung Fu are my favorite physical activities. I swim on a regular basis because it’s fun as well as it builds up my muscle strength, endurance and cardio fitness.  Swimming promotes proper breathing, stimulates your circulation and is easy on the joints.  Intrigued by the concept and fascinated with martial arts, I’m currently attending Temple’s Wing Chun Kung Fu School in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Wing Chun Kung Fu is best known as the foundation of Bruce Lee’s martial art.  I’m in my second year of training and looking forward to master the art someday.

SO AS A FITNESS MODEL DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A SEX SYMBOL?

I don’t consider myself as a sex symbol.  My main focus is to promote health.  I believe if you’re not healthy, nothing else matters.  To me, healthy is sexy.

DO YOU FEEL THAT THERE IS A BEGINNING TO BE A CHANGE IN THE MEDIA'S IMAGE OF THE FEMALE BODY AND IS THAT CHANGE FOR THE BETTER?

The media had always been a big influence on how women view their bodies or how they perceive what perfection is.  I’m turned off by anything I consider unnatural such as plastic surgeries, breast implants or Botox injections.  I truly believe there’s something special about every woman and their natural beauty.  Our society needs to place more emphasis on the importance of being physically fit and healthy.  Natural and fit is beautiful!

DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR YOUR NEW FANS ON THE BLOG?

There are far too many people that are overweight in this country, which leads to so many health problems.  It doesn’t matter how much you do as long as you do something.  My goal is to motivate people to take control of their health and fitness.  You can check out my Fitness Blog where I discuss both physical and mental health along, nutrition and beauty tips.  If you have a question, comment or topic that you would like me to cover, please feel free to send me an email.  Due to the numerous of emails I get, I may not answer it personally but I’ll answer it in an upcoming blog.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE

You can find more information about me at www.lindavuartist.comIf you want to lose weight the healthy way and be in the best shape of your life, I’m an expert! I truly love staying fit and I’m thrilled to share my techniques with anyone wanting to improve their life.

My goals with fitness is to become a fitness model one day, and to show people that a girl can have muscles and still be feminine :)

Now I really admire Erin Simmons, I dont think too many knows her, but she's so strong and looks close to what I wanna look like. Checkout her sick abs!

I've played football since I was 6years old, and I had abs since I was 10. I'm pretty sure football has a lot to do with it. I played 5times a week so every muscle in my body was really tight. We did a lot of cardio training, so I'm pretty sure thats how I Got my abs, and of course good genetics :)
